.......for there amidst the 'Brit Loyal Crowd' and their stupid cheering, there was a few boos! but most outstanding of all was the solitary stand of two young girls, surely 'Welsh Warrior Women' who despite being surrounded by those, whose 'loyalty' was not with Cymru first! These young girls raised high 'Baneri Glyndwr' in Patriotic Protest under Eleanor's Gate where Elizabeth II Queen of England stood smiling at the welcome she was being given - encouragement enough for her to consider Investiture III - a certainty......However in 'Ysbryd Gwenllian', wife of a Prince of Gwynedd Gruffydd ap Cynan,  was some Cymric Honour saved thanks to the spirited, courageous commitment of........

WHAT WE NEED IS FLAGS AND THEN MORE FLAGS AND THEN SOME MORE FLAGS!

Like in the days of Cofiwn, see below picture of just some of the flags made by Toni Lewis. I continue in his tradition but will never match Toni for commitment and non stop production of some cracking Cymric flags. Great to see that at Cilmeri Commemoration 2009 there was on display flags of Gwynedd and Powysian Princes apart from my flags made this year; Red Stag, Grey Wolf, Croes Naid and Red Pitch Fork but how many others during course of year went to the trouble of making at least one flag? Very few indeed, lets hope that by the 21 June 'Dydd y Senedd'  Machynlleth Glyndwr Commemoration 2010 and Rali Cilmeri 2010 we will see that a lot more flags will have been made and are flying? C'mon it will only take you a day or two, a week at most for Heraldic flags and cost you less than a night out on the booze, is that too much of a sacrifice for our struggle? I will this year make the NPF flag to mark 40th anniversary of it's demise following the 1970 Rali Cilmeri it organised has it's final endeavour. Cilmeri Commemoration really needs more Baner Llywelyn III, the four Lions Passive of Gwynedd but whom will do this, not I! I have done three in my time and all have walked? I shall also find time to produce a brand new Adfywiad Gwladgarol Eagle Flag, bigger and better than the last one, which I left at Rali Cilmeri 2009. This reminds me, we need also has many Croes Naid 'Celtic Cross' flags as possible and that is one not too difficult to make. Go to it then?

Some one out there has run off with two great two pole banners, one for Cofiwch 1282 - 1982 and one for the Abergele Martyrs, hope you have kept them safe but why not bring them out and put them on display at events? I think it's time that we saw many more Cofiwn flags (I made all those in picture above for the 1982 Cilmeri Commemoration and, again they have disappeared?) C'mon, this is an easy flag to make, lets see lots more again at Cilmeri Commemorations, not least for 2010 and 2011.

REMEMBER BYDDIN LLWELYN III at RHOSFERIG and at site of their massacre on 11 Rhagfyr 1282.

I have made a symbolic representaion Croes Naid (requilary) flag to unfurl for first time on 12 December 2009 at Rhosferig, in main to bring attention to the historical fact that some time between 10 - 11 December 1282 Byddin Llywelyn III  had pitched camp on or about Rhosferig near Buellt . It is known that Llywelyn III had the Croes Naid (piece of the true cross) about his person, this was possibly shown to his soldiers before he departed for Aberedw to where he had been invited by Marcher Lords who declared they were willing to desert Edward I. But this of course was no more than a trap in which it was thought traitors amongst his own country men were involved, suspicions also fall on religious conspiritors in Gwynedd for history testifies to the 'Betrayal in the Belfry of Bangor Cathedral'.

On morning of 11 December Llywelyn III moved away with 18 of his body guard to Aberedw where this party were treacherously ambushed and Llywelyn III was mortally wounded. His body was taken to a near by cave with his priest in attendance whilst his assassins awaited further instructions, sometime late on the 11th December 1282  Llywelyn III  was mudered in cold blood by his assassins who then beheaded him. The cave to this day is known as Ogof Llywelyn and, it is here I shall also proceed to place tributes in his memory. It is thought the priest took possession of the Croes Naid and returned with it to Bangor whilst the body of Llywelyn III was later layed to rest under the Alter of Abaty Cwm Hir.

Prior to this following on raising Y Faner Croes Naid at Rhosferig I shall place tributes at site (area of Builth Golf Course) where it is thought Byddin Llywelyn III were upon being told of their leaders death, were encouraged to assemble and lay down their arms. Thence surrounded by Edward I's Army they were slaughtered and quite possibly by Welsh Archers serving with the Anglo - Norman Army, little in way of true patriotism in these times where loyalty to Dynasty and Gwledydd was above that to any idea of a nation.

Picture belows illustrates the Croes Naid Requilary celebrated in the roof of the Chapel at Widsor Castle where it is said the Croes Naid was kept after being handed over to Edward I in 1283, but as now mysteriosly disappeared from? Although that should not stop us demanding that the English Crown finds it quick and, returns it to Wales. Thus, this Croes Naid Flag I shall unfurl at Rhosferig shall symbolically lead patriots fourth in a proposed campaign for the return of all our stolen national treasures. But who I wonder will take up this cause after I depart my Medieval Wales labours of 45 years, we shall see? Perhaps an Adfywiad Gwladgarol Newydd - Cymric Consciousness Campaign that just might arise at a future Rali Cilmeri? perhaps this year? maybe!

Does this not inspire Y Cymru to want a similar statue of Cunedda and his sons, but where would such be best sited? Perhaps Mynydd y Garreg, Cydweli near Allt Cunedda or perhaps some where in the North, but where? Anyone got any ideas where best and of course historically appropriate. Whatever, I am sure this project is more worthy of your support and GRANTS, that those dozy LANDMARK WALES projects. The annual alternative to Rali Cilmeri, following the more truthful historical account regards what happened on the 11 Rhagfyr 1282, for fuller information see earlier posts in this blog. In Aberedw you can visit the Castle and depending on the weather you can take a walk to Ogof Llywelyn and then return for drinks & meals at the Seven Stars Inn (see their website) . Do note that the Seven Stars now has limited accomodation, so if wishing to stay the night book well in advance. The next day, Sunday 14 Rhagfyr you may visit site of the massacre of Irfon Bridge, near Builth Golf Course and then proceed to Abaty Cwm Hir to lay your personal tributes at the Cofiwn memorial over the grave of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, Llywelyn III Tywysog Cymru.

EDWARD'S FIELD 1284 - 2009 725th ANNIVERSARY FEATURE. Call For Yma o Hyd Commemoration.

Following on the assassination of Llywelyn III in 1282 and execution of Dafydd III in 1283, Edward I in 1284 held a Parliament at Rhuddlan which delivered the Statutes of Rhuddlan. In the same year work began on his great castles of Conquest, including the Castle of Caernarfon. On 1 AWST 1284 Edward held a great celebration of Conquest at Nefyn in a field which has since become known as Edward's Field. Do note you can gain access to walk across via a public foot path Gate, see web maps for exact details of location and all footpaths.

To locate footpath first locate Capel Seion - B near the former St Mary's Church/Maritime Museum, note Car Park. Look for street sign STRYD Y PLAS and there over the fence is Edward's Field and close by the footpath sign post which leads you on to the field, check out web for route & distance of Footpath. The idea being that as from 1 Awst 2009 patriots take a walk across the field with Baneri Llywelyn & Glyndwr, just to make the point ''Yma o Hyd''. Further, another possibility, as 1 Awst 2009 is a Saturday, is to hold a Patriotic Parade/Walk along the path into Edward's Field with as many Baneri Cymru Rydd as possible plus Banners and Placards declaring COFIWN 1282, COFIWN 1283 and COFIWN 1284. Not least Poster Placards calling for Welsh Independence, and of course NO MORE ENGLISH PRINCES OF WALES, whatever, wonderful chance for a great Radical Nationalist Assembly with great significant and symbolic purpose. All this may include a Patriotic Picnic during the afternoon and possibly an evening of Patriotic entertainment at Tafarn Bryn Cynan under the imposing Mynydd Garn Boduon, indeed the fittest of patriots may want to walk atop Garn Boduon to rise up Baneri Cymru Rydd. However, I think it all needs some local organisation otherwise Patriots from other parts could do so informally, it's up to you. Shame to miss opportunity to score some propaganda points against the Brits, why not a Gwyl 'Yma o Hyd', Nefyn 2009, maybe such could then become an annual festival?

Cofiwn 1282 The Conquest of Wales - Google Docs

The below referrs to an Ysbryd Cofiwn Initiative in promotion of the true history of the events of 10, 11 & 12 Rhagfyr 1282 in regards to a commemorative outing tour of sites associated with these tragic days in our history. Individuals, Families or groups may organise their own outings at own time and pace. This more historically motivated outing it suggested may be, if wished as an alternative to the more political patriotic Rali Cilmeri, this outing begins at Llanganten and proceeds to Rhosferig, Parc/Bont ar Irfon and on to Aberedw. Full information is published in a previous post to this blog. This outing may take place on the Saturday, to allow for patriots to attend Cofia 1282 Sunday Rememberance Services at Abaty Cwm Hir also being held in Caernarfon and at Llys Rhosyr near Aberffraw, Ynys Mon.

The following Abaty Cwm Hir Sunday Rememberance Service, is not associated with another held later in the day, as it allows for individuals or groups to lay wreaths as from 12 noon and then proceed on their outing of sites associated with Llywelyn III in central Cymru. Cofia Sunday Rememberance Services are also organised in Caernarfon in the morning and at Newborough and Llys Rhosyr in the afternoon, full information may be found in a posting on OWAIN GLYNDWR COMMUNICATES BLOG.

Usually 11 Rhagfyr our National Day of Remembrance, falls on a week day, this makes it possible for further local Cofia 1282 Remembrance Ceremonies in any number of communities. Such we suggest are the setting up of small Cofia 1282 'Remembrance Gardens' as seen in the picture below, these may be best set up as closest as possible to the gateways of the Castles of Wales. This is not only about Rememberance but also a means of drawing public attention to our nations history.

It should be considered as a priority that there is held another National Remembrance Service in Caerdydd, and this may be done in and around City Hall, Caerdydd in which there is a statue of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. Such should be organised for 11th December which this year of 2007 falls on a Tuesday.

Dydd Sadrwn 8 Rhagfyr 2008 as from 11 am to 12: 30 pm - Walking in footsteps of Milwyr Llywelyn - in area of Rhosferig where Byddin Llywelyn pitched camp on 10 Rhagfyr 1282. Rhosferig may be reached via Eglwys Llanganten from where you may walk to Parc ar Irfon, site of the massacre of Byddin Llywelyn III either during evening of 11 Rhagfyr 1282 or on the 12 Rhagfyr 1282. If making the walk, do wear walking boots and all weather clothing, you may if you wish reach Parc ar Irfon by Car, about 12: 30 - 1:00 pm please lay flowers or bunches of Ivy close to the flag pole outside Builth Golf Club House in memory of the massacred soldiers, alternativelly throw your tributes into the River Irfon from Bont ar Irfon close by. During the evening you may retire to the Seven Stars Public House in Aberedw, we suggest you book your meals in advance.

Dydd Sul 9 Rhagfyr 2007: if Staying overnight in Central Wales, we suggest you make your way to Abaty Cwm Hir by 11:00 am for your Rememberance Service at 11:30 pm by the Cofiwn Memorial near to high alter, marking place where Llywelyn III was bueried. Dinner 12:noon may be had in the Happy Union Tafarn close by. After which you may visit other sites associated with Hanes Llywelyn III in Central Cymru as Cilmeri where mistakenly a memorial was placed to mark an English Account of the events of 10, 11 & 12 Rhagfyr 1282 but nevertheless worth visiting the memorial and having final evening refreshments at Tafarn Llywelyn before departing for home.
