His Royal Highness will be visiting St Giles' Parish Church in the city centre on Friday (December 8) to mark Wrexham's new city status with a celebratory ceremony.
The King and The Queen Consort will arrive via the High Street Gates where they will be met by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Clwyd, Lloyd Fitzhugh and welcomed to the church by the wardens of St Giles'. Their Majesties will then attend a short service led by Reverend Jason Bray in the nave of the church, during which His Majesty The King will formally mark the conferral of city status on Wrexham and make a short speech.
King Charles will then view the church’s treasures including the First Edition King James Bible and a rare early 14th Century chalice which is still in use before meeting church/ecumenical representatives and local community groups.
Looking forward to the King's visit, Rev Jason Bray of St Giles' Church said: "We feel very honoured to be able to welcome the King and Queen to St Giles as we begin a new chapter in Wrexham's history.
"The church has stood at the centre of Wrexham for many centuries, and we're thrilled to be able to share in the excitement and opportunity that the future will bring to us as a city."
