WELSH TRIBUTE TO EXECUTED 1916 IRISH EASTER RISING LEADERS AT THE WELSH 'COLONIAL' OFFICE, CARDIFF 3 - 12 MAY 2016 (Maybe Welsh Republican Resurgence Rally 15 May, same location. Foward a Welsh Republican Movement III?) YMLAEN I'R WERINIAETH!















We, my partner Sian and I had to go, myself, for the second time as I had been in 1966 for the 50th Commemoration and later post 1969 Imprisonment had gone into exile in Dublin for two years 1969 - 72 but that is another story altogether?

 If I had the money I and Sian would quit Wales and return for retirement in Dublin. (Photo below myself in Dublin 1970 on way to work as a Grill Chef in the Green Rooster now a Burger King opposite the Daniel O'Connoll Monument).

Much water since under the bridge all to be written up in our book BAMN CYMRU, now, only a blog but to be published in the  not too distant future which will also put the record straight not least regards a present day 'Back Stabbing' Pathetic Fringe of fb Fusiliers and the annual rally of 'Cilmeri Cream Crackers' et al.

Whatever, the 1966 venture to Dublin inspired many of us Patriots on our return to Wales to engage in a radical liberation struggle 'ADFYWIAD GWLADGAROL', nothing to do with Plaid Cymru 'Home Rule' campaigning nor the Cultural Nationalism of CyIG. I with Toni Lewis founded the Patriotic Front and engaged eventually in the main the Anti - Investiture struggle (with our Rali Cilmeri as a platform) for which we were arrested and imprisoned in 1969. Politically back in the day we were inspired by Welsh Republicans of WRM I as Cliff Bere and Pedr Lewis RIP also radical Nationalists as Trefor Morgan RIP and Emrys Roberts et al. However, what made me more a 'Socialist Republican' was my exile in Dublin in the early 'Seventies' and thus when I returned to Wales with my Brother we set up the Welsh Socialist Vanguard and with Viv Pugh founded the annual 1831 Commemoration. Later the WSV would with Ian Bone and the Haines Brothers make way for Cymru Goch I to advance a more Socialist struggle within a Nationalist environment, this did not come too much beyond muting setting up of a Plaid Gwerin Cymru with Idwal Dyer. But the most affirmative acheivement was the establishment of Cofiwn and the signifigant legacy it left on it's demise including Rali Cilmeri prior to it's decline as a radical nationalist platform.

This and much else was affirmed by my recent journey to Dublin for the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising:



I have reaching the age of 70 politically retired, what I am about to suggest and note not even a proposal may be regarded as a Retirement 'Adfywiad Gwladgarol' Twighlight. There are to be 'Memoriam Vigils' in Dublin over days of the May 1916 Executions also in Cork and in August at Pentonville Prison and in Scotland too But none in Wales unless the below is carried out:




 Re above am suggesting Individuals/groups adopt a Day/Martyr between 3 - 12 May and either hold a personal or organised tribute, these could be at any time and be no more than dedication and speeches if wished with placing of Ivy Wreaths or single Easter Lily bearing  one of my suggested memoriam photo cards on steps of the Welsh 'Colonial' Office or deliver to the front door?:


Here is a blank and fotos of others executed  for you to make similar cards. Best done by having a 6X4 Foto of the executed devoloped and a 7X5 of the card blank. Paste foto on card and blow up on a foto copier to A3  Size. Then stick to stiff Card and cover with book cover cling film, if you know an easier way go ahead.  Also 6x4 laminated to attach to the Lilies.

As for myself I cannot attend any of above due to other engagements and thus will with Sian carry out our contribution on the 1st May as representing 'YSBRYD COFIWN' and EMBASSY GLYNDWR also out activist campaiging platforms of:



A further suggestion: If the Rally is to go ahead, why not assemble at the Anuerin Bevan statue in Queen Street at 12 noon on 15 May and with all the Photo Placards and loads of Banners and Placards hold a 'Memoriam Walk' to the Welsh 'Colonial' Office via the Lloyd 'Black & Tan' George statue opposite the NMW and wrap in Black Ribbon with poster declaring he to be a 'Welsh Traitor' and Murderer of Irish Patriots. This brings to mind there is also a Lloyd George statue in Caernarfon, I suggest those who cannot make it to the Cardiff Rally could hold a Republican Rally there and wrap that statue in Black Ribbon too, yes! Also attach Easter Lilies.


Last but not least who can draft a good Welsh Republican Proclamation to stick to the door of the Welsh 'Colonial' Office on the 15th May 2016:

 YSBRYD COFIWN NEW YEAR 2015 INFORMATION  STATAEMENT

 

We note with some concern that next year 2015 England is to commemorate the anniversaries of Magna Carta 1215, Azincourt 1415 and Waterloo 1815. They are largelly of English Historical Concern but not with out Association and influences upon Wales.

 

Whilst in Wales during 2015 much is being made of the 150th anniversary of establishment of the Welsh Patagonia Colony in 1865. Hopefully this commemoration will cause us to also reflect on the native peoples of Patagonia and their long resistance to they being conquored and Colonised by the Argentinian ‘Coquistadores’ and later Colonisers, These native peoples ‘Mapuche’ still have to wage a resistance to now ‘Corporate Capitalists’ who plunder their lands in both Argentina and Chile.

 

2015 also marks the 300th Aniversary of the founding of the Society of Ancient Britons iin1715 at a London Dinner attended by the English Princess for Wales. An event with much toasting of Loyalty to the English Crown much due to fact that the ‘Welsh Establishment’ of the day sought to show their loyalty to England while the Scots were engaged in the first Stuart rebellion. These ‘Ancient Britons’ took the English Princes ‘Three Feathers’ as their badge of loyalty and were thus responsible for in time it’s popularity amongst Welsh People as their contemporay symbol of loyalty to English Crown and their ‘English Princes for Wales’.

 

Sadly, not doubt the 600th Anniversary of Owain Glyndwr’s ‘Disappearence’ on St Mathews Day 21 September in 1415 will be ignored as who would want to commemorate this and the beginning of the end of this armed struggle of National Liberation from English Rule. Not however untill 1421 a guerrila resistance led by Maredudd Owain and the ‘Gwerin Owain’ Rebel Outlaws would continue. In ‘Ysbryd Cofiwn’ we shall fully support the Embassy Glyndwr Glyndwr 660 Commemorative Programme (see their blog) to further promote and reinvigorate celebration of all the great and signifigant acheivements of our national hero Owain IV the true last Prince of Wales – ‘Tywysog Cymru’.

 

This leads me to conclude by drawing attention to other much needed Welsh Commemorations for 2016, hopefully Welsh Assembly Government, CADW and also Educational and other bodies creative and cultural also not least associated communities will during 2015 busy themselves preparing signifigant national programmes for National Commemorations as the 2016 50th Aberfan Disaster 1966 and 800th Anniversary of the most Wales Historically signifigant Council of Aberdyfi 1216. Finally, worth reminding that 2016 Marks the 100th Anniversaries of the Battles of Mametz and Festubert both Battles having strong Welsh Associations and thus should not be forgotten. 2016 will also mark the 200th Anniversary of the  Merthyr Revolt  of 1816. Last but not least some Welsh Nationalists will be mindful that 2015 marks 20th Anniversary of Death 1995 of Julian Cayo Evans Commandant FWA.

Proceed along Y Waun, look out for this Gravel Mound on left.



Directly to the right you will see the 'Trig' Cofia Stryveland Memorial off in distance, of course the flag set up was only for purpose of the foto below.

Flag is that of the Royal House of Gwynedd and of it's last Prince Llywelyn III, Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. Why up side down, such signifies surrender, death or distress. Keep in mind that Llywelyn was assassinated at Aberedw in 1282 and that Wales was then distressed as was 'Stryveland' then and today. But Y Cymry of 'Stryveland' did not surrender but fought back to liberate their land and by 1334 had done so with the destruction of the Castle of Penlle'r Gaer. Patriots should note that 1282 was not 'The End' but the beginning as 'Stryveland' was in revolt 1282 - 1334, so to Cymru in 1294 with Madog's National Revolt, the 1315 - 16 Southern Revolt also Revolts followed in 1344 - 45 in Harlech, Denbigh, Rhuddlun and in Biwmaris. The coming of the 'Black Death' for some time took peoples mind off rebellion but in time 'Adar y Greim' Welsh Outlaw Rebel Resistance would continue and prepare way for the Owain Glyndwr war of National Liberation 1400 - 1416 - 1421 following which Y Gwerin Owain would continue the struggle up to 1536 prior to which the terror of 'Hanging Judge' Rowland Lee would bring upon these Outlaw Rebels would bring to an end such patriotic Welsh Resistance. However, in less than a 100 years the Peasantry, the people of the Pitchfork and Pike would arise to the rallying call of 'TRECH GWLAD NAG ARGLWYDD', so the struggle for land and Liberty would again continue. 

Will it be so ever again, that is entirely up to you and you can make it happen on the 9 June 2012 following rally at above memorial by marching on the Windmill Plantation Fence to demonstrate our discontent at the Destruction, Devestation and Desecration of our Heritage on the Landscape of 'Stryveland' - Mynydd y Betws. 

A landscape in which how many of our patriotic ancestors lay, having fought and died to liberate this, their homeland?
